Ready to Ring in Independence Day? Us too.

With 4th of July quickly approaching, it’s best to plan ahead in order to get the best view for fireworks in the city (keep in mind, there will be hundreds of other Charlestonians trying to do the same). We’ve made it easier for you to find the perfect vantage point by highlighting the best places to watch fireworks in the Holy City. After all, 4th of July only happens once a year!

Pop By Patriots Point

Just $40 gets you access to one of the coolest, most unique ways to watch the Fourth of July fireworks: atop the USS Yorktown. In addition to the amazing views of the Charleston harbor, you’ll also enjoy East Coast Party Band and optional food and drink (you can also bring your own folding chair). For $110 you can get the VIP ticket package, which includes the view and live music, plus a VIP area on the flight deck with food from TOP SHELF Catering, complimentary beverages, and tables & chairs provided. You can also choose not to board the ship and instead watch the fireworks from the grassy area next to the Yorktown for free (other than the cost of parking, which is $10), which will also feature live music and a children’s play area.

Ooh and Aah at the Aquarium

If you’ve never been to an event after hours at the South Carolina Aquarium, now’s your chance! It’s a completely different experience at night, and with the fireworks show outside, you really couldn’t ask for a better venue. Tickets are $60 for adults and $30 for kids (members save $5 per ticket) and are all-inclusive, featuring tasty food, beer, wine, and an awesome view of the fireworks on the harbor.

Revel in Sparklers at Riverfront Park

North Charleston Riverfront Park will also be hosting a Fourth of July party this year. It will feature exciting musical guests, food trucks, activities for kids, craft vendors, and what they’re calling the Lowcountry's largest 4th of July fireworks show! Best of all, the festival is free to the public, and you’re encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to really make the most out of it. They will also have lots of fun activities for kids and adults free of charge, like inflatable jump castles, games, a play area, a giant sandbox, and a water fountain. It’s sure to be a great time!

Uncle Sam Jam

Party Like a President

Another great option in Mount Pleasant is the Uncle Sam Jam, held on the Mount Pleasant Pier, right under the Cooper River Bridge. They’ll be hosting a party at the end of the pier, with live music from Ellen Drive. Advance general admission tickets are just $8, while day of tickets are $10 (although tickets are limited, and may sell out before the event). There will also be food and beverages available for purchase at the event as well.

The Watch’s Rooftop

Take It From The Top

The Watch is hosting a rooftop BBQ on July 4th from 7-11 pm. Your tickets give you access to a full menu of delicious items like pimento cheese and crackers, a snack bar, lowcountry boil, BBq pulled pork ribs, sirloin shish kabobs, ice cream treats, and more. Plus, those over 21 can enjoy seasonal beer and wine, also included in their tickets. Tickets are $75 for those over 21 and $35 for those under 21.

Red, White, and Bluegrass Cruise

Views From The Cruise

Why watch the fireworks from land when you can take to the sea instead! Spiritline Cruises is hosting a Red, White, and Bluegrass cruise featuring the music of The BlueStone Ramblers, as well as a cash bar full of festive drinks and snacks. The cruise goes from 8:30 - 10:30 and takes you on a leisurely tour of the Charleston harbor. Tickets are just $36 a person and it’s pretty much guaranteed to be a lot of fun!

Beachside Booms

And of course, you can’t forget the beach! Grab a folding chair and settle down at Isle of Palms, Folly Beach, or Sullivan’s Island, which are all hosting their own fireworks displays at sundown.
